A lawyer by profession, Ramon Mascort was a great promoter in the creation of tourism companies in the Empordà and other companies such as Lynx Edicions, a publisher house promoted together with the naturalist Jordi Sargatal and the doctor Josep del Hoyo, in 1989, with the purpose of develop and publish the Handbook of the Birds of the World.
His father, Ramon Mascort Galibern, and his uncle, the painter José Mª Mascort Galibern, introduced him to the world of art and art collecting
Ramon Mascort received several recognitions such as the Montgrí Medal, on August 24th 2014, and the Gold Medal of the Antiquarian Guild of Catalonia, on February 18th 2016. That same month he was named Honorary Academician of the Reial Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi. He was also awarded by the Fundació Valvi Prize, who awarded the Mascort Group in recognition of his career in the field of preserving the environmental and landscape heritage within the framework of the Girona counties.
