written by historians Ramon Sarobe and Antonio Espino. It is the first monographic study on an essential episode of the last French invasion to the Spanish region of Cataluña under the reign of king Charles II, during the so called  “Nine Year War” (1688-1697). It took place on both sides of the river Ter banks near the villages of Verges and Torroella de Montgri (Gerona). This research work deals with the specific historic, political and military circumstances as well as a detailed study of soldiers’ lives, weapons and tactics. It also features unpublished historic documents and engravings to this date, which belong to the Mascort Collection.
